Speech Language Pathology

(SLP) enhances communication skills and facilitates expression of ideas, feelings and processes that can be affected by genetic syndromes, developmental delay, disease or injury. Communication, language use, comprehension, and motor speech coordination and control are the processes of speech that can be affected by syndromes and delays children experience.
 
Goal of SLP evaluation: Identify the strengths and limitations of your child’s overall communication skills.
Speech therapy interventions could address:
  • Articulation skills
  • Speech fluency
  • Social communication
  • Word finding difficulties
  • Language-based learning difficulties
  • Structural language impairments
  • Swallowing difficulties during feeding (dysphagia)
  • Stuttering
  • Apraxia
  • Cognitive impairments (executive functioning, memory, attention, sequencing)
  • Assistive technology
