Occupational Therapy
Helps to facilitate a child’s ability to learn and maintain skills in all areas of development. Our pediatric occupational therapists evaluate and treat children of all ages using standardized testing, clinical observations, information gathering and parent/child and/or school interviews.
• Goal of Occupational Therapy: Analyze a child's overall functional performance to identify strengths/limitations interfering with functional abilities, and provide adaptations to promote functional independence.
• Occupational therapy treatment could address:
- Sensory processing or modulation issues (desensitization or stimulation to different sensations)
- Fine motor skills (handwriting, hand-eye coordination, motor planning)
- Learning skills (visual perception, attention)
- Self-care skills (dressing, hygiene, cooking)
- Psychosocial skills (play, socialization)
- Oral motor skills (feeding)
